I have a good education. When i first started whitworth community high school i didn't have clue what too do and where too go.I eventually got used too it.i have 5 weeks or so left in year 7 then i will be moving into yr 8 and i am excited
You dont realise what you have until its gone. Yes the Paninis sometimes spill out the side, Yes the school cares too much about reputation. The hate in these comments is undeserved however not at all false. This school truly shines in its community aspect, a word in the name for 5 years that I didnt realise mattered until I left. The people are awesome, wish i knew them better.
All my grandchildren have been to this school, one of them is currently in year 11. As far as I am concerned it is a great school. It has encouraged all my grandchildren to be the best they can be and the teachers seem to go out of there way to help them achieve this.
To start I mean no hate to the teachers and members of this school, they do extremely well for a school that cares more about its reputation, than the pupils it is supposed to help and educate. First and foremost, the running of this school is purely based on statistics and numbers, you could be terminally ill and theyd moan about your poor attendance. Arrogance is rewarded and effort is ignored. They constantly put pressure on students to climb higher but they often are reluctant to help those clearly struggling and degrade and label them as lower ability. Furthermore the rules are hugely illiberal (even some teachers agree). They force girls lacking confidence to remove the slightest touch of make up, and, unroll their skirts so long they drag along the floor (short skirts were never really an issue in the first place). Phones are not allowed in school which I can understand to a certain extent. However, in extreme winter conditions were all suddenly allowed our phones to get home safely, but what about those who didnt bring it out of fear of the overly strict punishments. These punishments include being dragged to I.E (internal exclusion) taking students away from any learning taking place leaving students who are not even particularly badly behaved with huge gaps in their learning. At dinner students are served pizza, wraps and paninis all covered in a nice thick layer of grease. Or pasta, which has been known on multiple occasions to make students feel ill. I would also like to point out the school offers no halal options or hardly any vegetarian alternatives.Students are forced to fill in a learning journal which is promoted as a form of revision but instead serves no purpose as for another reason for punishing a student for missing a single sentence. Theyre a complete waste of time, paper, and the schools budget wasted on security cameras and online learning resources, only used to make their reputation climb higher. Even though the school cant even buy clocks for every room, and there is hardly (if any) air conditioning present throughout the school.Overall to make the school a better place I believe it should: -focus on education not reputation - listen to and accept students opinions about the school- make rules more reasonable - remove learning journals - offer a larger and healthier variety of foods with alternatives
The teachers will happily call you stupid and dumb for them to not understand that they're not teaching correctly and can't teach, instead just tell you to revise more on topics they've never covered or let you understand. All the other students reviews on here aren't just to get back at a school, they're true. If they used their real names then they would of got mentally abused even more in school and forced to take them down and write a good, incorrect review about the school. This school honestly needs a whole new teaching body to realistically become even grade 4 by ofsted. This school honestly needs a miracle.
